If its not Parker it's Austin who is sick. This episode started two weeks ago with Austin having an ear infection and RSV. After giving 1/2 the antibiotics, I decided to stop giving it to him because it was causing horrible tummy aches and sleepless nights. Only days later, he was running a fever of 102, not taking his bottle and not sleeping. The ear infection was back. I was very thankful the Dr went ahead and called in a new prescription rather than having us make the haul to Arlington. We will now suffer through the tummy aches and sleepless nights for 10 days so his ears can heal.
While Austin is on the mend, Parker spiked a fever Thursday and has had a fever since ranging from 100-102. His only other symptoms were runny nose and cough until last night at 10pm when he woke in a blood curling scream. He told me he had owies in his ears. He also woke up soaking wet in sweat with a fever of 102.6. So this morning we made the trip to the on call Dr. After waiting and hour and a half we were finally seen. By there Parker was saying 'done' and ready to go and Austin was screaming his head off. As the Dr walked in, I said 'looks like you better take a look at this one also'. She was a very nice Dr that examined both Parker and his duck! Parker insisted that his duck get his ears and mouth looked in as he had to also. He was a real trooper and didn't scream when examined. Austin was also examined. The consensus was that both have a respiratory virus and Austin is on the mend from an ear infection (which we already knew). For now all we can do is fluids, humidifier, saline and cough medicine (for Parker only) and only hope that is passes quickly.
At bed time tonight, Austin was fever free and has been all day but Parker still had a fever. Hopefully tonight will be a good one and tomorrow will bring new hope and more sleep!!
