Fun and Relaxing Weekend!

This weekend has been a lot of fun. Although we really haven't done much, Todd was off Saturday and Sunday! Saturday we went and bought the baby stroller because they were discontinuing the color we wanted and then went to my parents. The baby got to sit by the out door fire place with us and watch my nieces roast marshmallows!

Today Todd felt the baby kick for the first time! It was very exciting for the both of us. I think it was the orange juice! We just put the stroller together. I think it took a total of 10 minutes to assemble. Easy Breezy!

Here is a picture of Todd with the stroller...I must let you know that the mohawk is temporary! He had to shave it because they raised more money than last year at the OTB in Burleson for Susan G. Komen. He has to wear it pink tomorrow to work! He definitely has to wear a hat when we are together in public! Hope you enjoy the picture!

Married Two Years Today!

I was having a bad day at work today but my WONDERFUL husband of 2 years made everything better! I got an Edible Arrangement delivered to my office at lunch. I was so yummy and really made my day! Thanks babe! I think the baby even liked the fruit...oh and the chocolate of course!

Well to top things off, when I got home I had a dozen red roses and lily's waiting for me! I think Todd did pretty good...ok GREAT! He even cooked dinner but we all know he does that anyways...I'm not much of a cooker. Here's a picture of my pretty flowers...

Food For Thought

So, I was thinking today. I was thinking about how the baby is starting to hear voices. Do you think the baby knows ahead of time if he/she is going to have siblings? Just think...the baby would be able to hear those voices along with the mommy and daddy's. Does the baby even distinguish between the different voices?? It's all such an interesting phenomenon. I know that Todd really enjoys talking to the baby!

What is that....oh, It's the baby kicking finally!

I am now 20 weeks and getting bigger by the minute! The baby went from never being felt to doing flips in my tummy this past week! Baby D is active all times of day now!! At first it was only at night and I was a little worried I was going to have a night owl (which I am not at all)! Todd hasn't been able to feel it but hopefully he will soon! It is the greatest feeling.

I had an appointment this morning and got to see our little ANGEL........Here is the sonogram I got! So big compared to the first sonogram. The heart beat this time was 154 bpm. The nurse said that he/she weights approx. 11 1/2 oz and is 8 3/4 in. long. Below are two of the pictures I got. One is of the whole body and the other is the baby smiling at us! If we wanted to find out the sex, we wouldn't have been able to today because the baby was curled up so tight with all the goodies hidden! We go back on November 11th! They really do need to make appointments closer together. A month is WAY too long for me to wait in anticipation. Even if it is to hear the little one's heart beat!

Below is a picture of the growing tummy for those of you I don't see on a regular basis. It's amazing how clothes fit one week and the next week they are a little tight! At least I have an excuse...BABY! It was early in the morning when the picture was taken so I wasn't awake yet!

We bought our first big baby item this past weekend. Thanks to a good friend, we were able to get a toddler car seat at a really good price! A little ahead of ourselves because we haven't even gotten our infant car seat but I couldn't pass it up. The only thing we have left to pick out is the furniture. Hopefully it will be quick and painless and NOT back ordered!

I got a really neat book in the mail from my mother-in-law a few weeks ago..it has been a great guide to buying baby stuff. Every mother should have it or read it at least!

Around 28 weeks (Christmas), Todd and I are going to have a 3D Sonogram done and we won't even find out the sex! Exciting for me and a bummer for some of you dying to know. I just love technology (sometimes)! We are going to have both of our parents there to share in this neat event! We even get a video to show the baby later and color sonograms! So Cool!

Life Changing Events

You never know how things will affect you until they actually happen. Todd was off work for four months and just recently started his new job. There was much talk and discussion about how things would be when he was a working. I think reality has finally set in now that I am helping with the cooking and doing the cleaning by myself :). I am very thankful for his new job but am dealing with the emotional aspects of not having him every weekend to do the things we love to do together--watch football, have breakfast in bed, go shopping, and be with the family.

I feel the same will be when the baby comes. We can do all the planning ahead of time but you don't realize what a life changing event it really is. The baby's room may be ready and the nursery stocked but the emotional and mental changes will be so dramatic. We will have another life to care for everyday. I don't think this is something parents will ever be fully prepared for. You never really know how it will affect you until it happens. All I can do is pray and leave it to the Lord....

Got the BABY BUMP going!!!

Todd and I went to the doctor today and heard the baby's heart beat. It was 144 bpm! Our next appointment is October 15th. We will get to have another sonogram done finally!!! We aren't going to find out the sex still...for all those dying to know, it will add to the excitement on the day of!

I have been feeling a ton better but am lacking in energy. While Todd is at work on the weekends, I am usually on the couch in comfy clothes all day. It's wonderful but at the same time I feel so worthless.Comfy is definitely key when you are pregnant. I have had a hard time finding comfy maternity clothes so I am going to settle for regular clothes in a bigger size plus the clothes at the maternity stores aren't that cute. I bought the only cute shirt at Motherhood maternity the other day.

I have decided that being pregnant in the middle of the summer would suck. If I get hot I feel horrible and we all know that summers in Texas are HOT! Just cooking makes me hot. I made dinner one night for Todd and had to sit down so he could finish it...I know...I'm pathetic!! Easy way out :)

I have definitely learned that pregnant women do not get special treatment. I was at Waly World the other day with my cute "expecting" tee that my mom got me and the guy just looked at me after he rang me up...since when do you put your own groceries in the cart?! I was so mad when I left there...that was just RUDE of him!

Here is a cute shirt shirt my mom got me!! I love it! Thanks Mom!

I had the weirdest dream this past week. I went into labor at only 20 weeks but was really full term but the doctors did not know it! When I left the hospital I was totally unprepared and didn't have a car seat so Todd and I drove around with the baby in our arms!! I was so worried the next morning about buying a car seat!!! I was ready to order it immediately but we all know I have a ways to go.

End of First Trimester..Woohoo!

Yesterday I was officially 13 weeks and now onto my 14th week. Baby Dehls has started taking some of my oxygen and I am exhausted all the time now. I feel so bad for Todd because I walk in the door, eat dinner and on to bed.... I guess after a 10 hour work day anyone would be exhausted! Friday's a absolutely fabulous though because I am off! Hopefully in a week or 2 I will have my energy back!

Todd finished paining the bead board and trim in the baby's room! It is a creamy white that my mom picked out. It is going to go great with the new bedding I picked out! The walls will either be petal pink for a girl or a light green for a boy! I am dead set on this bedding..thanks to my friend Jana in NJ telling me that Restoration Hardware sells baby stuff! Check it out below and let me know what you think!

Todd is going to take a break from working on the room until he puts up the crown molding! Can't wait! For now we are just counting our blessings and our little blessing that is on it's way!

I already know that motherhood is going to be real challenging. I listen to 103.7 in the morning and the last couple weeks have been about going back to school and parenting. You really have to think about what is best for your baby especially as they are growing older and you have to start disciplining. Hundreds of things run through my head a day...what to do in certain situations? Am I going to be a good parent? All I know is that I have to put it in God's hands and trust that he will guide me and make me a good parent.
