2 year Birthday Bash!

At 11:37pm tonight 2 years ago, I gave birth to my little fire cracker Parker! He has brought us so much joy and laughter. He has made us look at things in a whole new light.

We celebrated his special day Sunday with a party at The Little Gym. Lots of friends and family came and enjoyed playing in the gym followed by cake and ice cream. Parker was uncertain what to think of the place at first but quickly warmed up and didn't want to leave when it was over. The theme of the party was Yo Gabba Gabba. The decorations included a 3 tier Gabba cake, Muno and Toodie party favor bags and Gabba napkins. Parker was in awe of the decorations!!

We had a post party celebration also with some family at our house with morefood and more presents to open.

Today we had one last little thing planned for him and we took him to Chick-fil-a for lunch and to play. He had a blast. I think that was the best part of his day since the rest consisted of constant tantrums, crying, hitting, screaming...all thanks to his 2 year molars I assume.

5 months

Austin was 5 months on the 22nd...oh how time flies. After introducing him to food at 4 months we took a break when he was sick because he showed no interest in it. We started food again at 5 months and he couldn't get enough! He would eat his pears so fast but would start screaming when I gave him rice cereal! What a temper that boy has. He has since tasted carrots and bananas and seemed to like both.

He is now on his knees rocking back and forth with his tummy off the ground, sitting on his own with little help, grabbing toys in reach, rolling both ways and belly laughing.

He loves being outside and our time at the park and playing in the bathtub much like Parker did at this age.

Although he does a lot of things like Parker did, he is definitely his own person. He is changing everyday looking different (I think he looks like me!) and has a little personality.

Sickness

If its not Parker it's Austin who is sick. This episode started two weeks ago with Austin having an ear infection and RSV. After giving 1/2 the antibiotics, I decided to stop giving it to him because it was causing horrible tummy aches and sleepless nights. Only days later, he was running a fever of 102, not taking his bottle and not sleeping. The ear infection was back. I was very thankful the Dr went ahead and called in a new prescription rather than having us make the haul to Arlington. We will now suffer through the tummy aches and sleepless nights for 10 days so his ears can heal.

While Austin is on the mend, Parker spiked a fever Thursday and has had a fever since ranging from 100-102. His only other symptoms were runny nose and cough until last night at 10pm when he woke in a blood curling scream. He told me he had owies in his ears. He also woke up soaking wet in sweat with a fever of 102.6. So this morning we made the trip to the on call Dr. After waiting and hour and a half we were finally seen. By there Parker was saying 'done' and ready to go and Austin was screaming his head off. As the Dr walked in, I said 'looks like you better take a look at this one also'. She was a very nice Dr that examined both Parker and his duck! Parker insisted that his duck get his ears and mouth looked in as he had to also. He was a real trooper and didn't scream when examined. Austin was also examined. The consensus was that both have a respiratory virus and Austin is on the mend from an ear infection (which we already knew). For now all we can do is fluids, humidifier, saline and cough medicine (for Parker only) and only hope that is passes quickly.

At bed time tonight, Austin was fever free and has been all day but Parker still had a fever. Hopefully tonight will be a good one and tomorrow will bring new hope and more sleep!!

He pee'd in the potty

My friend Janna had told me about starting potty training early and I always thought it was a crazy idea until tonight! No not Parker but Austin went in the big potty. At bath time, I undressed him and had a crazy idea to put him over the toilet, make the " sound", and he pee'd!!!! Parker got very excited too. Maybe if I continue, Parker will eventually catch on, but for now I will continue doing it with Austin! Such a Big Boy!!!

Another Day, Another Milestone

We had a very busy week last week. It was the first full week (3 days) of work, we went to the zoo, had Parker's 2 year pictures taken and cleaned the house. Whooo I'm exhausted thinking about how busy we were! In the midst of all the chaos, I discovered Parker has finally cut 1 of his 2 year molars. This would explain the fever, runny nose, fussiness and no appetite lately. Only 3 more to go. Saturday, Austin successfully rolled from back to front. He has been working really hard lately and would get very frustrated that his head was weighing him down!! I got so excited in the moment I started screaming and both boys looked at me. Austin then got excited but Parker was still confused as to why I was so happy. Only hours after reaching that milestone, he laughed out loud for the first time as I played with him. It wasn't just once but several times and almost so hard it was a belly roll!!!! We now begin another great week! I hope one of the boys has another exciting milestone this week. Makes me a proud mama to know they are growing and thriving!!
