2 Month Appointment

Today, Todd and I took Parker to his 2 month appointment. I have been dreading it but was ready to get it over with. He got three shots and an oral vaccine. I held his hands and quickly rescued him when the nurse was done. It was so sad...his eyes got big, face turned red and he screamed at the top of his lungs. All I could do was hold him tight and give him all my lovings. He was just about as ready as I was to get out of there. Here are a few of the facts regarding his appointment:

Weight: 10 lbs 13 oz -------> 45%
Length: 21 3/4 in ---------> 15%
Head: 39 cm --------------->30%

Dr. Hampton said he may be short now but with mine and Todd's height he won't be when he gets older...Thank goodness!!

OMG he is asleep in his crib!

So we got Parker to sleep in his crib for the first time this week...it was the only time he has slept in his crib! Todd and I were upstairs when he fell asleep so we thought we would give it a shot. We quietly laid him down and his eyes popped open so we left the room. All we could hear was sucking..he was sucking on his fist! After about 5 minutes he was out, sleeping about 1 1/2 hours. It was a success so we had to get a picture of it!

Sucking...He is very much a sucker we have found out. The other day when we all woke up, he had a huge red mark on his arm. It bothered me all day because I thought I had accidentally done something in the night to hurt him. At lunch that day with people from work, Staci mentioned that it looked like a hickey. It all made sense then. He had sucked his arm so had that he gave himself a hickey for the 2nd time. I offer him the pacifier when he does this but he prefers his arm or fist...crazy kid! We have found that he only likes his pacifier when he has a tummy ache which I am very grateful for. Here is a look at his poor arm...

This past week Parker's medicine was changed to Prevacid because the Zantac just wasn't doing the trick for his Acid Reflux. It was like a light switch after 24 hrs of him being on the medicine. He was even more happy then before...smiling BIG smiles and Cooing even more!! We have found that a bath is one of Parker's favorite things. I can take him in the bathroom when he is screaming and turn the water on and he will stop crying. He is so relaxed in the water. This will make our trip to the beach much more enjoyable knowing he likes the water!!!

Parker will be 8 weeks tomorrow. He goes for his 2 month check up Wednesday! I can't wait to find out how much weight he has gained and how long he has gotten.

Here are more pictures of Parker hanging out...

7 Weeks

Parker is 7 weeks old tomorrow and growing like a weed! He weighed 9lbs 2oz at his Dr Appointment this past Tuesday. We also found out at his appointment that he has acid reflux. The Dr prescribed him Zantac and it seems to be helping. He is a much happier baby now! I am glad to know that it wasn't the food the was affecting him like most people thought but the acid reflux...either way I am glad he is feeling better now. He has started smiling and cooing more and more each day! He has made progress on his sleeping situation also. He is sleeping most hours of the night in his bassinet and sleeping for a little longer periods of time. This makes for a Happy mommy and daddy! Parker has started discovering himself...He likes to look in mirrors and see himself and every once in a while we will catch him staring at his hands.

This past week I returned to work but from home until May. I am very blessed that I am able to do this. This has allowed Parker to spend a great deal of his day with his daddy. They have enjoyed taking naps together and going to the grocery store. Todd is even becoming a pro at changing diapers!

Here are some sweet pictures we have captured of him over the past couple weeks...

Breaking the Rules

Going into my pregnancy there were things I always said I would never do but am catching my self doing them now that Parker is here. Here are a few things I am doing my way:

1. Letting him sleep in our bed

2. Use a pacifier

3. Using most any diaper not just Huggies Pure and Natural

4. Letting him sleep on his tummy not his back

I am sure there are a lot more but the biggest one was him sleeping in our bed. I have found it even easier to let him sleep with me when Todd is at work. This leaves Todd in the guest bedroom most nights..poor guy. I guess I have learned that there really isn't a right or wrong way to do things but rather what ever works for you and your baby DO IT! So any expecting mom's reading this, don't get set on a certain way of doing things before the baby comes because that may not work for your baby. Grow with your baby and learn what he or she may like and it will make both of your lives better.

Here are some things I know my little Mighty Mouse loves...

1. To cuddle

2. To ride in the car

3. Kisses!

4. To take it all in...especially when he is outside

I am enjoying every minute right now...rules are for later in his life!

Easter at 5 weeks old!

This past weekend we traveled to Mount Pleasant to see Todd's family Saturday and Sunday we were in Weatherford to see my parents..talk about traveling around the world! At least it felt like it! It was a great weekend and everyone was happy to see our little Mighty Mouse Parker! Here are some pictures from the weekend...

Parker is 5 weeks old now and growing everyday. He has finally filled out his newborn clothes. I think in the next couple weeks I will get to start putting him in some of his 0-3 months clothes...how exciting!! He is getting so long too...I can't wait to see where he is weight and length wise at his 2 month appointment. He stretched his feedings to 4 hours last night for the first time! I'm thinking we are finally making progress and getting in a routine (well kind of!) I am enjoying every minute of him being so small and cuddly. He has definitely put Todd and I on cloud 9!! Here are some cute pictures I have taken of him outside Easter weekend.
