Successful Trip to Nana and Gaga's

We met in Rockwall for lunch on the 7th. This gave the boys a little bit of time to warm up to their Nana and Gaga. Parker didn't need any warming up. He was ready for them to get there and ready to go. Austin needed the warming up but did great. After lunch, I transferred all their stuff over to Nana and Gaga's car. I got them in their car seats and away they went with their kid music on! Nana came prepared with music for the car ride which the boys love!! Their were no tears. The boys had a blast. The fished, rode the 'red thing' and 'orange thing', stayed up late, slept all night, went out to eat, went to church and played hard!! Although Austin is not a little hesitant about me leaving him, Parker is ready to go again!! I am so glad they got the time with their grandparents. So many memories were made and hopefully will be remembered.

Parker and Austin's Weekend Away

Tomorrow morning I am taking the boys to meet Larry and Reba in Rockwall to spend the weekend there while Todd and I go to Marble Falls for a wedding. I am excited about the time they will get to spend with them, excited about the break I will get but nervous at the same time. They are my babies and I am constantly in control of everything to do with their lives but I will have to let go and know that they are in good hands with lots of loving. I know everyone will be ok in the end and I will be happy to see them Sunday evening.

Packing for these munchkins has been a chore! I have packed everything from meds to clothes to their silverware for eating!! I have even typed up a list of info for Larry and Reba to reference if needed:

Fun at Nana and Gaga’s

Here is a list of meds you may or may not need and their dosage.

Austin:

  • Ibuprofen-3/4 tsp every 6 hrs
  • Ciprodex (ear infection meds)-3 drops in infected ear 2x day
  • Children’s Allergy Relief-3/4 tsp 1x day at night
  • Delsym-1/2 tsp before bed only if coughing
  • Inhaler-1 tube = 1 6-10 min treatment every 6 hrs as needed for wheezing
  • Infants gas relief-0.6 mL as needed for tummy ache

Go ahead and give the allergy and Ibuprofen every night. I have been doing this lately and it seems to help with both his allergies and his 2 yr molars coming in!!

Parker:

  • Infants gas relief-0.6 mL as needed for tummy ache
  • Children’s Allergy Relief- 1 tsp 1x a day at night
  • Delsym-3/4 tsp before bed only if coughing
  • Advil-1 tsp every 6 hrs

Thermometer-1 push turns it on, then press to middle of forehead and hold down button while scanning down to ear and then release

Here’s some tips on feeding the boys.

Austin:

  • Possible food allergy to fresh kiwi, kiwi that may be in a juice box is ok.
  • Loves eggs but you want to give infants gas relief after and as needed the rest of the day because it does give him a bad tummy ache without it.
  • Some of his favorites…hot dogs, cubed cheese, yogurt, blackberries, strawberries, bananas, yogurt raisins, dried fruit, mandarin oranges, dry cereal and cereal with milk, applesauce
  • Small green sippy is what he prefers his milk out of while the other one we use for water
  • Some of his dislikes…deli meat, not crazy about PB & J lately

Parker:

  • Some of his favorites…sandwich consisting of bread, mustard and cheddar cheese only (Although he may tell you he likes turkey he won’t eat it!), dry cereal and cereal with milk, yogurt, cinnamon bread, yogurt raisins, applesauce
  • Blue sippy is what he likes his milk out of while the other cup is for water
  • Some of his dislikes…eggs, hot dogs, mac n cheese, pizza, anything with melted cheese on it!, deli meat

I hope they prove me wrong and eat everything you put in front of them and more!!

So you have an idea about our days…

They usually wake up around 6:30 – 7:30 and want their milk first thing although Parker sometimes may tell you its too cold and I let it sit for awhile before he drinks it. Only Parker gets a vitamin (in a baggie) in the morning. Sometimes Austin asks for a yogurt first thing also but he clearly can tell you what he wants!!

I usually put them down for a nap after lunch. Austin will most certainly need a nap but Parker has been trying to fight his but needs it usually. They nap anywhere between 1 ½ -3 ½ hrs depending on how much you wear them out! Parker needs a diaper at nap. One of the polka dot diapers is fine. After nap they sometimes ask for milk also.

At bath time and any other time there is water, Austin needs ear plugs in both ears. They are very easy to press in and he usually will keep them in. The same pair can be reused. At bedtime, Parker loves a book or 2 or 3 read to him and both like you to pray at bed time. Both have a night time diaper they wear. Austin’s is Winnie The Pooh and Parker’s are white with a bear on them. I wouldn’t put Parker’s diaper on him until he has used the restroom and you are putting him in bed because he gets lazy and will pee in it rather than using the potty! Parker likes to sleep with his Cat In the Hat and Austin his dog-dog. Both can have more milk at bed time.

Do what ever works for yall. I just wanted to give you an idea of what we do in case they are trying to tell you something and you don’t quite understand them. I don’t care if they have juice but be prepared for Parker to either go to the bathroom a lot after or wet his pants, that’s why we usually only do them for special things!! They will definitely drink them if you have them though.

TV: They like Nick Jr, Sprout, KERA and Disney Jr but I don’t let them watch all the shows…their favorites are Mickey Mouse, Jake and The Neverland Pirates, Bubble Guppies, Dora, Umizoomi, Cat In the Hat…you can always ask Parker if he likes and it and he will tell you. The one show they can not watch is Spongebob. If all else fails, I will send some movies for them!!

Dog-dog and Cat I try and keep inside especially dog-dog because of Austin’s allergies.

End of School...

...Summer is here!!

I have gotten really bad at this blogging this over the past year. Hince, child two has made me that much more busy and tired.

An update on the boys happenings...

Parker is busy being Parker he finished up school last week and won't attend summer school this year. He will instead get to enjoy time with daddy, several Vacation Bible Schools, swim lessons and time playing with friends. He cried when we left Couts last Tuesday after i told him we won't see Ms. Kim and Ms. Sarah again. He was so sad. He is still a child who tests, pushes buttons and does what he wants even if it isn't the good choice. He loves to play outside on his tractor, in his sandbox or on his trampoline. He is a bit obsessed with storms right now after the tornado in Oklahoma. We pray every night that God will protect us from the storms. He is a picky eater...tonight's battle was that I bought chicken tenders not nuggets and they didn't look the same so he opted to eat carrots (which he never eats) and dip them in ketchup. Funny kid!! He is back on track with his potty training and not having accidents like we were for several months. We are now working on not peeing in the diaper at nap time and bed time which was a success today during nap!! We signed him up for fall soccer tonight and are very excited to see how he does. Although he wanted to play baseball, I think we will wait a bit longer on that as there may be too much standing and waiting for him!! Parker still takes a nap most of the time but has been trying to give it up. I'm not ready for this and he isn't either. He needs a good nap to make it thru the day. He is growing...wearing a size 4t and size 8 1/2 shoe. He can count to 20, knows all his colors, remembers everything including the sequence something may have happened, loves books, loves to cook, helps with yard work....his best friend is Rylan Smitherman. They love to play together and play well together. Parker had the opportunity to go to a cooking class and loved it. I hope he is able to do it again soon.

Austin is growing by leaps and bounds...wearing anywhere from a size 24 mo to 3t and size 6 1/2 shoe. He is very aware of when he goes potty and lets us know and wants to be changed quickly. I think he will potty train soon after he turns 2 much like Parker did. He is busy and loves to play. He doesn't care much to watch cartoons in the morning but would rather being playing with his toys which is hard when mommy and daddy want to be lazy in the mornings. He plays very well by him self with all his toys. He loves to dance to music and often shows off when he knows others are watching. He loves to cuddle and be held by his momma but is not sad anymore when I leave him with daddy, Mimi and Papi, church or at school. I have not taken him to the Dr in a couple months but that does not mean he has not been sick because he has had several viruses and ear infections since but we medicated on our own and waited the viruses out...we are fighting an ear infection as we speak. Austin has been my walking buddy lately. We have been going 1-2 times a day and he loves the ride in the stroller. He loves books and one of his favorites right now is Elmo's Valentines. He looks for elmo on every page and loves to find Count. He also communicates very well and remembers a lot of different things you wouldn't think he would...like today as we were walking, we came to a stop sign and he told me to "stop" and then "go". He also loves to point things out and name them as he sees them...trash can, basketball, rock, plane, car, pig, cow, sun (he also says eyes with sun because when we drive to school the sun is always in his eyes), bird....to name a few. His bedtime routine includes covers and praying.

These boys hold a special place in my heart. Although it seems that there are more bad days than good, they really are all good days because I have two amazing children who are healthy, loving, fun and are glowing with love for their mommy and daddy. No matter how upset I get with them, they always want my love and usually never turn away. They let me hold them and kiss all over them. At the end of the day nothing else matters but the love we have for one another. Don't take that for granite with your children, family or anyone else in your life because as we all know, everything can be just right but bad things can happen to good people no matter how safe you think you are.

Easter Weekend

Well now that we are several weeks past Easter, I will recap events to my best recollection!! It was a pleasant weekend despite some sickness. We drove to Mt. Pleasant Friday afternoon during nap time. Finally arriving at Larry and Reba's we relaxed with the family catching up and letting the boys ride the tractors. Saturday was the Easter celebration along with an early 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration for Larry and Reba. It was a beautiful day of celebration in many different ways.

We headed home Saturday night rather than Sunday after a rough night Friday. Every one's allergies were bothering them especially Austin's. He got so choked up in the night, he threw up all over me and kept throwing up. This was after it had us hours to get him to sleep. We were exhausted Saturday and just ready to get home to our own beds.

Sunday we attended a beautiful Easter service at our church followed by Easter with my family. What a blessed family we are to have such wonderful family to spend our holidays with.
