What a fun and scary Halloween it was this year. Parker is overly obsessed with all the scariness involved. We have quite a few neighbors that decorate with big inflatable pumpkins, witches, rocky (vampire) and ghosts. We would drive by all of them daily to see if they were up. He saw a preview on Sprout about a witch show which he promptly asked if we would record it for him. It was Room on The Broom and they loved it. Austin on the other hand was very cautious about anything that had a mask and even then inflatables at first. Once we got past the initial crying and explained it was pretend, he was ok.
With Austin's hesitation about all the scariness, I was anticipating a screaming, crying child the night of Halloween while trick-or-treating. We started out before it got dark so he was able to see things and understand it wasn't real. He was only hesitant on a couple houses but did awesome. About half way through, he was walking up to the houses on his own saying, "Trick-or-Treat", "Thank You" and "Happy Halloween". He didn't want to stop but with it getting dark we opted to head back to Mimi and Papi's to hand out candy. Parker on the other hand was a little stinker while Trick-or-Treating. He wouldn't walk up to the houses, didn't want to wear his costume and cut it short after insisting he just go back to Mimi and Papi's because he was done. All the anticipation must not have lived up to his expectations!!
Since we don't celebrate Halloween at school, the day after Halloween was declare pajama day. It was well welcomed since everyone was tired and I was up all night with Austin crying. Austin was just scared from seeing all the frightful things that night and needed his momma!
